Introduction
Here I will show you how you can maximize business visibility and help you take your small business to the next level, whether a start-up or an existing business.
This will be an entire article for you to get tips to maximize your business visibility to potential new clients and customers.
If you follow these steps, including the bonus tips listed at the end of the article, you will be fighting new clients and customers off with a stick.
Sound good? Let’s get into it.
Business visibility is categorized into two main parts.
When we look at maximizing our own business visibility, it can be categorized into two main areas of focus, online and offline, which I’m sure needs no explanation.
We are going to cover some of each in this article today.
Social media advertising.
First, let’s take a look at Social Media advertising. This one is probably the most popular form of adverting around at the moment. For a short while, I had my own social media marketing agency, which offered digital marketing, digital presence, and online marketing strategy. It did pretty well in a short period. I decided to move more into search engine optimization and the business consulting side of things.
The great thing about social media advertising is that you can advertise with a laser-like focus getting to precisely who you want to target if you sell dog products, you can purely target people who own a dog; if you sell cat products, you can target only the people who own cats.
This means that you can maximize your budget by only targeting those people who would be interested in your product or service.
The great thing about social media advertising, too, is that you can re-target anyone who showed an interest in your original ad, then entice them with offers to try and convert them into buyers knowing they are already somewhat interested in your products.
Radio advertising.
Radio advertising is one of the oldest methods of advertising and is more of a scattergun approach, as you can’t specifically target an audience.
You can only really target a specific location, your home city, for example.
This is a good form of advertising for a local brick-and-mortar business, such as a restaurant or a bar.
You need to target nearby people as people aren’t likely to travel too far to a brick-and-mortar store unless it’s really specialized.
When using radio advertising, it is essential to develop a catchy jingle or hook that people will remember as soon as they hear it to maximize its effectiveness and ensure your business’s visibility.
Influencer advertising.
Let’s take a look at a relatively new way of maximizing business visibility next, and this is influencer advertising.
Influencer advertising is where you give away products to people with a large following on social media in the hope they will love the product and promote it to their army of followers; you can also come to a deal where you pay them too obviously.
The key here is to find a top influencer with an audience that will suit your product.
For example, if you are a BBQ meat restaurant, it’s probably not the best idea to go to a vegan influencer; this may end badly.
Find an influencer who loves your product, and there are three ways to pay them; they may just take the free product as payment if it’s an expensive enough product, they may just do it for a one-off flat fee, or you could offer them a commission-based arrangement whereby they get a cut of every product sold through their promotion.
Give them a promo code for 10% off for their followers and a code unique to them, so you know where the customers have come from.
YouTube videos.
This is a great way to maximize brand visibility awareness. But you don’t just create videos to promote your business products. Create videos that help people answer specific questions or help them do something.
For example, if you own a woodworking business, create videos teaching people how to restore an old cabinet or build a birdhouse.
But at the end of the article, say if you need any wood furniture or cabinet restoration, then I am available for those services too.
Brand your channel as the expert in this field, and people will come to you for the services you want to sell, even if you show them how to do the things themselves.
TV Advertising.
Next, we are going to take a look at TV advertising, and this one has been around for a while but is now in a state of change due to the introduction of smart TVs.
TV advertising is now going along the same lines as social media advertising, where the adverts are specifically tailored to you; even if you watch the same television program as someone else, you will see different adverts.
Media companies have so much data on all of us now because everything we do online is tracked; therefore, they know what we are in the market to buy and can show us adverts for the things we are interested in at the exact time we are looking to buy.
TV advertising is still costly, so this is best suited to products that cater to a large audience or have substantial profit margins.
Sports sponsorship.
Next, we look at a great way to maximize your business’s visibility, which is sports Sponsorships.
Be it a local football team or a formula one team. Brand visibility advertising in sports and events is another form that goes way back.
This can again be expensive, but you usually get a lot of perks with this being a sponsor of a sports team, for example, and if you sponsor the right team can get a lot of publicity.
I have been involved with sponsorship deals with some of my businesses, from sponsoring an ice hockey team to sponsoring a GT Cup racing driver.
Sponsoring things like this means that you get VIP access to events in which your sponsored team is involved, so not only do you get the publicity, but you also get to go to some pretty great sponsor events too.
It’s a win-win for all involved.
Online reviews.
What is the first thing you do when you are looking to purchase a product from a company you have never purchased from before? You go online and check the reviews, right?
Well, the same people who do that when they are buying things for themselves don’t push for reviews for their own company’s online visibility, and this is an area where you need to be driving.
If you have people loving your products, direct them to sites such as Trustpilot and Feefo to leave you great reviews about your products.
It costs nothing to get someone to write a review, and before you know it, you will have lots of great reviews about your products and services, increasing your business visibility online.
The most significant time to ask for a review of your product or service is when a customer emails you about how great your product or service is.
Thank them for the kind email, and then simply include a link to a review site and your company in the response. If they have made the time to write you a friendly email, you can be sure they will also take the time to write you an excellent review.
Next, we look at the holy grail of advertising.
Word of mouth.
If you are always aiming to please your customers and provide the best possible product or service for your customers, along with excellent after-sales service, there is no reason why people wouldn’t recommend you to their friends and family.
Whenever I am looking for a product or service, I always ask friends and family if they can recommend anyone, so make sure you are on that list by providing excellent service to all your customers all of the time.
Search Engine Optimisation.
Another great way to maximize your business visibility is search engine optimization.
The idea behind search engine optimization is to make sure you are showing up on the first page of Google for your key search terms; there are 8.5 billion searches on Google every single day, so if you want to maximize business visibility, make sure you are ranking for your product or service keywords.
This is very powerful because if you rank highly for top keywords which people are searching for, you will have an influx of free organic traffic.
Organic means that you haven’t paid to bring in the site visitors using something like google paid ads.
The best way to rank for search terms is to host a blog on your website, find out what people are searching for related to your business page using sites such as answer the public and write search engine-optimized relevant content or user-generated content to answer the questions people are looking for the answers to.
You can recommend your products within the blog post, and if you get enough traffic from search, your sales will increase, and so will the visibility of your local business.

Affiliate programs.
Another great way of maximizing business visibility is to create an affiliate program for your products. For those who don’t know how this works, you can create an affiliate program on a site like CJ affiliates.
Then you provide anyone who wants to promote your product with a uniquely identifiable link, which can be traced back to the person who directed them to your website.
When someone purchases a product through their affiliate link, you are then able to pay them a commission for the sale.
It’s a commission-based referral program. Still, it is an excellent method to maximize business visibility, as people with a large following can make a lot of money promoting your products and earning a commission from each sale.
They win because they are getting paid, and you win as you sell more products, albeit at a slightly lower profit margin, but you are still making a profit.
Final thoughts.
I hope this article has given you some good insight into how to make your business more visible.
With all these strategies, the key is getting started immediately!
Then spend some time learning about local SEO to optimize listings like Yelp or Foursquare. Finally, consider PPC ads as an additional way of reaching potential customers directly through search engines like Google AdWords or Bing Ads.
